On December 22, 2009 Harvest and Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) successfully completed a plan of arrangement whereby Harvest became a subsidiary of KNOC Canada Ltd.
John Zahary, President and CEO, Director
John Zahary, a Professional Engineer with extensive senior management experience in the upstream and intergrated oil and natural gas industry, is Harvest's President & Chief Executive Officer. Prior to the merger of Harvest and Viking Energy in February 2006, Mr. Zahary had been President & CEO of Viking since April 2004.
Prior thereto, he was President of Petrovera Resources, a 46,000 boe/d oil and gas producer with assets in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Previously, Mr. Zahary held senior positions at PanCanadian Petroleum Limited, Canadian Oil Sands Trust, Gulf Canada Resources Ltd., Imperial Oil Limited and Texaco Canada Resources. Mr. Zahary is a Director and past President of the Alberta Chamber of Resources, past Governer and Officer of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, and Chairman of the western Canada Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee as well as other business and volunteer involvments.
Mr. Zahary holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and a M.Phil. in Management from the University of Oxford.
Kyung luck Sohn, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sohn is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Harvest and holds a Business Management degree from the Busan National University in South Korea. Mr. Sohn has played many different roles in previuous years, with extensive management experiences in the oil and natural gas industry that brings advantageous benefits to Harvest.
Mr. Sohn was a Vice President of KNOC, in the Finance Management Department in 2009, and in the Offshore Rig Operations department from May 2006 to December 2008. Mr.Sohn also held positions as Administration Manager in Ulsan Gas Terminal, a Financing Manager, and Infromation Manager in the Petroleum Information department and a Marketing Manager in the Offshore Rig Operations department. Prior to these roles, he held a senior position in the Procurement department of Hyundai Heavy Indutry Co., Ltd for four years.
Rob Morgan, Chief Operating Officer, Upstream
Rob Morgan is Harvest's Chief Operating Officer, Upstream. He is a Professional Engineer with 20 years of technical, operations and management experience in the oil and natural gas industry. He was most recently Vice President Operations and Corporate Development of Viking Energy Royalty Trust since June 2004, and prior thereto had been Manager, Planning at Canadian Natural Resources Limited. Previously, Mr. Morgan was a member of the management team of Petrovera Resources, holding positions of Vice President Corporate Development and Vice President Engineering. Prior to the formation of Petrovera Resources in 1999, Mr. Morgan held management and senior technical positions at Pan Canadian Petroleum Limited and CS Resources Limited, and technical and field operations positions with Murphy Oil Company Ltd.
Brad Aldrich, Chief Operating Officer, Downstream
Brad Aldrich is Harvest's Chief Operating Officer, Downstream, stationed out of the company's North Atlantic Refinery in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. A senior executive with over 27 years in industry, Mr. Aldrich has extensive management experience in petroleum refining and marketing, supply and trading, price risk management, transportation and distribution, and production planning. His experience includes direct responsibility for Clark Refining’s $4.5 billion petroleum refining and petrochemicals business and 12 years of increasing responsibilities with Conoco in their downstream operations. Most recently, Mr. Aldrich held the position of Vice President of Production with Yukos, Russia’s largest oil company, where he led operations at 11 plants and managed its $1.3 billion refinery modernization program.
Brian Kwak, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Upstream and Vice President, Oilsands
M. Sc, B. Sc Geology, On January 19, 2010 appointed Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Upstream and Vice President, Oilsands of Harvest Operations Corp. From November 2006 to January 2010 was Manager Subsurface of KNOC Canada; from August 2005 to November 2006 was Manager, Offshore Drilling Rig of KNOC; from February 2002 to August 2005 was Deputy Manger, Exploration of Cuulong Joint Operating Company in Vietnam.
Gary Boukall, Vice President, Geosciences
Mr. Boukall is a Professional Geologist, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree (1976) from the University of Calgary. He has held the position of Vice President, Geosciences of Harvest since March 16, 2007, and prior thereto held various senior positions with Harvest from December 2002 to March 2007 including Chief Geologist, Manager of Geology and Manager of Geosciences. Prior to joining Harvest, Mr. Boukall was a Lead Geologist at Burlington Resources Ltd where he was employed from 1987 to 2001.
Leslie G. Hogan, Vice President, Land
Mr. Hogan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Allison University and has over 25 years of progressive experience in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Hogan has been Harvest’s Vice President, Land since December, 2007 and previously had served as Vice President Land and Community Affairs of Pioneer Natural Resources Canada from 2002 until the Canadian Division (Corporate) was sold to TAQA North Ltd. in November 2007. Prior thereto, Mr. Hogan was the Senior Landman with Anderson Exploration Ltd/Devon Canada Corporation since 1999. Mr. Hogan had been with Norcen Energy Resources Limited from 1981 to 1998 and served as Chief International/Canadian Negotiator during the last six years with Norcen. He was also the Division Land Manager, BC and the Senior Negotiating Landman for an area in Alberta for over one year with Blue Range Resource Corporation/Big Bear Exploration Ltd.
Phil Reist, Vice President, Controller
Mr. Reist is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BCom degree from the University of Alberta. Mr. Reist was previously the Controller of Harvest from the February 2006 merger of Harvest and Viking Energy Royalty Trust until he was appointed Vice President, Controller of Harvest on March 16, 2007. Previously, he served as the Controller of Viking from September 12, 2005, and was the Vice President, Controller of PennWest Petroleum Ltd. from March 2004 to June 2005. Prior thereto, Mr. Reist was Vice President, Finance and Controller of Petrovera Resources and had previously held accounting related positions of increasing responsibility with Gulf Canada Resources Limited.
James (Jim) Sheasby, Vice President, Engineering
Mr. Sheasby is a Professional Engineer, and holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He has held the position of Vice President, Engineering of Harvest since March 16, 2007, and prior thereto had been Harvest’s Manager, Engineering since the merger of Harvest and Viking in February 2006. Prior to this, Mr. Sheasby held various senior positions at Petrovera and Viking, as well as 11 years with Norcen Energy, and brings to Harvest numerous years of experience with various exploitation and EOR technologies.
Neil Sinclair, Vice President, Operations
Mr. Sinclair was appointed Vice President, Operations of Harvest on March 16, 2007. After receiving his B. Ed from the University of Alberta in 1980, Mr. Sinclair began his 28 year career in the oil and gas industry with Esso Resources in various Field Operations assignments. In 1994, Neil joined PanCanadian Petroleum in Calgary and held various positions in the Operations Group and eventually transferred to PetroVera Resources where he assumed the position of Operations Manager. In June of 2004 he was the Manager, Operations for Viking Energy and following the February 2006 merger of Harvest and Viking, Mr. Sinclair held the position of Manager, Operations for Harvest
Dean Beacon, Vice president, Treasurer
Mr. Beacon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.
Mr. Beacon was a senior member of the Royal Bank’s financial risk advisory team within its Treasury division from 1987 until 1993. In 1993 Mr. Beacon joined TransCanada PipeLines as a senior member of its financial risk management group becoming V.P Risk in 1999. In 2000 Mr. Beacon joined TD Securities as a corporate risk advisor in Calgary. In 2002 Mr. Beacon joined Talisman Energy as a senior member of its corporate finance group. Mr. Beacon has been Harvest’s Treasurer since March, 2007.
Jongwoo Kim, vice president, Business planning and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Kim holds a Master of Science in Finance graduate degree from the Daniel's College of Business, University of Denver. He has recently been appointed the Vice President, Business Planning and Corporate Secretary for Harvest following the completion of the plan of arrangement between Harvest and KNOC on December 22, 2009. Prior to this, Mr. Kim held various positions at the Korea National Oil Corporation over a 17 year period. His previous role with KNOC as Merger and Acquisition Team Leader, New Ventures Department made him instrumental in the successful plan of arrangement between Harvest and KNOC.
